Participants will learn about essential documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and health care directives, as well as recent updates to Minnesota’s medical assistance laws. The class will also explore which assets may or may not be protected, address common questions about long-term care, and review the basic information typically needed by a funeral home. You’ll leave with a better understanding of how to prepare and make informed decisions for yourself and your loved ones.

Margaret “Maggie” M. Cook practices law with the Red Wing, Minnesota law firm of Gorman & Lodermeier, PLC which was founded in 1935. She represents families and individuals in Southeastern Minnesota in a variety of practice areas including estate planning, Medical Assistance, asset protection, special needs planning for individuals with disabilities, including supplemental and special needs trusts, guardianship and conservatorship cases, and estate and trust administrations. Ms. Cook is licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Ms. Cook received her Juris Doctor degree, from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2015, and her Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Gerontology and Strategic Communication, from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 2012. Margaret is active in civic and professional organizations, including the Southeastern Minnesota Area Agency on Aging (Board Member), Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity (Board Member), Samaritan Bethany Foundation (Board Member), and the Minnesota State Bar Association.
