Kellogg LEGO Robotics (Gr. 6-8)
Play with LEGO® Bricks. Build Robots.
Make new friends at your school, and learn in the best way possible- through play! Solve puzzles by designing and testing LEGO® Mindstorms robots. Make your robot navigate a simple maze, detect obstacles, follow a light, and solve more complex problems. You may be surprised at how lifelike your robot is when you equip it with sensors to see colors and feel the slightest touch. Your creations will never sit still when you teach them to roll, walk, push, and even dance their way through obstacle courses.
Professional Mentors
Kellogg Middle School and Community Education offer LEGO Robotics in partnership with the IBM LEGO Outreach (ILEO) program. Professional engineers from IBM will volunteer at your school and teach you about computer programming.
Final Competition
The IBM LEGO Education Outreach (ILEO) Competition is the culmination of Kellogg Middle School's LEGO Robotics season. Teams of students from Southeastern Minnesota will display their engineering skills and use their robots to solve challenges. Rochester Community Education will provide transportation from Kellogg to the event. Permission slips will be sent out in November. Students must provide their own transportation home after the event. Family members are welcome to attend.
