4Kicks Family Taekwondo (Ages 4-7)Recreation & SportsTaekwondo is a fun, family activity and great for students of all ages! Under the instruction of Patricia Young with the American Taekwondo Association, students will improve their coordination, balance, strength, and agility while adults will benefit from improved memory, balance, and flexibility. This is an introductory course for students new to Taekwondo. Students who wish to continue Taekwondo lessons after completing this course should contact 4Kicks Family Taekwondo for further information. One adult may attend and participate with the child at no extra charge. Classes are held at 4Kicks Taekwondo, 4915 Hwy 52 NW, Frontage Road, on the north side of the Slumberland building. Driveway entrance is between Slumberland and State Farm, and the door is between the Detour Athletics door and the Slumberland pick-up door. **Students should bring a bottle of water and wear gym-type clothing to class. Students may attend one or two nights per week for the same fee. One adult may attend and participate with the child at no extra charge. Crossovers & Conversations: Girls Basketball Camp (Gr. 6-10)Recreation & SportsBasketball and Health Crossovers & Conversations is a program designed to combine elite basketball training with discussions about health topics relevant to teens. We have a team of excellent coaches who have competed at the collegiate level and coached internationally. This two-day camp includes basketball training sessions and health discussions. This camp will feature a discussion and hands-on training about Narcan, including when and how to use it, as well as a discussion about communication and how effective communication applies both on the basketball court and in everyday life. Health discussions at this camp will include discussions about Narcan and Effective Communication. Health discussions will be led by a team of healthcare professionals. Golf Squad (Gr. K-5)Recreation & SportsGolf Squad is an afterschool enrichment program that brings golf professionals from your local area to your school campus to give a once-a-week lesson to the students. We focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game of golf which include putting, chipping, full swing irons, and full swing woods, as well as help develop valuable life lessons such as relationship building, proper etiquette, and rules of the game. Minnesota Xtreme Cheerleading: Tumbling Fundamentals Beginning (Ages 6-12)Recreation & SportsThis class focuses on building strong foundational tumbling skills while progressing through our beginner curriculum. Athletes will work on proper technique, body control, coordination, and safe skill execution in a positive and encouraging environment. Rochester Figure Skating Club Learn2Skate Basic Skills (Ages 6-12)Recreation & SportsBeginner ice skating lessons will be offered for our newest skaters. These classes focus on having fun on the ice while safely learning basic movements and fundamentals of skating. Instructors use the Learn2Skate USA curriculum which is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating and USA Hockey. Skate rental is available for $3.00 per class and must be paid for the entire session on the first day of class. It is strongly recommended that participants wear a skate helmet during class, and skaters must provide their own helmet. Location: Rochester Recreation Center, 21 Elton Hills Dr. NW.
