Fall Asian Art Workshop with Lim Chen
Join us for a 3-day Asian art workshop taught by visiting artist Lim Chen! This is a great chance for artists to hone their Asian brush painting skills and connect with other local artists. Many participants will have experience in brush painting and can inspire one another. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to learn Asian brush painting from a master artist!
Participants can register for one, two, or all three days of the workshop, held at Woodlake Meeting Center in the Birch Room. The workshop will run from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day, with a one-hour break for lunch. Coffee and tea will be available, but please pack your own lunch. Each participant will receive a large 6x3 foot piece of rice paper per day of the workshop, but should also bring their own supplies (ink, brushes, newsprint for practice).
Lim Chen is not only a master artist but also has a charming personality. She understands some English but will conduct the workshop in Korean. Rochester Community Education instructor Catherine Park will serve as translator for the workshop.
**This art workshop is not intended for beginning artists, but for those who have taken Asian Brush Painting in the past.**
The daily project schedule is as follows:
Day 1: The Four Gentlemen
Day 2: Free-form subjects, such as Dragon and Fire Horse
Day 3: Horse Year calligraphy and painting demonstration, along with dragon painting and calligraphy
Throughout the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to practice these traditional techniques while developing their own artistic style.
