Under the instruction of Patricia Young with the American Taekwondo Association, students will improve their coordination, balance, strength, and agility while adults will benefit from improved memory, balance, and flexibility. Focal points of the program include: diagnostic testing, science reasoning, intensive mathematical review, reasoning comprehension improvement, concentration improvement, overcoming test anxiety, and time management. This virtual classroom meets for 3 hours, one day each week for four weeks, and is taught live via Zoom by an Advantage instructor who provides instruction and interaction with the students. NewCABS: Child & Babysitting Safety (Gr. 4-12)Health & SafetyThe Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger-style" presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of class the students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book. From getting started with your business and collaborating with parents and children to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success! Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. NewCrossovers & Conversations: Boys Basketball Camp (Gr. 7-9)Recreation & SportsBasketball and Health Crossovers & Conversations is a program designed to combine elite basketball training with discussions about health topics relevant to teens. We have a team of excellent coaches who have competed at the collegiate level and coached internationally. This two-day camp includes basketball training sessions and health discussions. This camp will feature discussions on Nutrition for the Athlete and Championship Level Communication. Our nutrition talk will cover the importance of nutrition on performance, recovery, and overall health. Our communication talk will identify core traits of being a great teammate, allow participants to engage with challenging situations requiring respect and good communication, and challenge participants to recognize that the same skills apply to being a great friend, partner, and community member. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after-school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first-aid tips.
