4Kicks Family Taekwondo (Ages 4-7)Recreation & SportsTaekwondo is a fun, family activity and great for students of all ages! Under the instruction of Patricia Young, with the American Taekwondo Association, students will improve their coordination, balance, strength, and agility while adults will benefit from improved memory, balance, and flexibility. This is an introductory course for students new to Taekwondo. Students who wish to continue Taekwondo lessons after completing this course should contact 4Kicks Family Taekwondo for further information. One adult may attend and participate with the child at no extra charge. Classes are held at 4Kicks Taekwondo, 4915 Hwy 52 NW, Frontage Road, on the north side of the Slumberland building. Training for students ages 8 and up includes bully prevention, advanced self defense, the use of nunchucks, escrima, and board breaks, as well as other advanced concepts. Students may attend one or two nights per week for the same fee, ask at the first day of class for more information. One adult may attend and participate with the child at no extra charge. Classes are held at 4Kicks Family Taekwondo, 4915 Hwy 52 NW, West Frontage Road on the north side of the Slumberland building. WaitlistHooked on Fun: A Fishing Course for Beginners (Gr. 3-6)Recreation & SportsThis two-day introduction to fishing course will teach the basics of knot tying, equipment, bait, fish species, and outdoor ethics. Students will also assemble a tackle box they can use for their next fishing adventure. Best of all, we will spend a day fishing! Day 1 will be spent in the classroom learning the important details of the basics of fishing.Day 2 will be spent fishing at Chester Woods Park. All fishing equipment and bait will be provided, however, students are welcome to bring their favorite fishing pole if they desire. Mayo Spartan Football Camp (Gr. 2-8)Recreation & SportsStep onto the field and train like a Spartan! This high-energy youth football camp gives participants the chance to learn directly from Mayo coaches and athletes while building essential football skills. Instruction will focus on the fundamentals of passing, kicking, blocking, and punting, along with position-specific drills on both offense and defense. This non-contact camp is designed to develop confidence, teamwork, and a strong understanding of the game in a fun and encouraging environment. Held at the Mayo High School football fields, the camp is a great opportunity for young athletes to sharpen their skills and experience football the Spartan way. Mayo Spartan Track and Field Camp (Gr. 3-8)Recreation & SportsTake advantage of the opportunity to experience the exciting sport of track and field! Participants will explore sprinting, jumping, and throwing while being introduced to a wide variety of events. With 18 different track and field events, athletes are sure to discover one or more areas where they can grow and excel. Coaches will focus on age-appropriate instruction, teaching proper techniques for each event, along with training tips and the importance of positive competition. Participants will build skills, confidence, and sportsmanship in a supportive environment. The week concludes with a fun and rewarding track and field meet on the final day, giving athletes the chance to showcase what they’ve learned. Minnesota Wind Chill: Ultimate Frisbee Camp (Ages 6-14)Recreation & SportsMinnesota Wind Chill, the State’s professional ultimate frisbee team and 2024 Ultimate Frisbee Association champions, will introduce participants to the non-contact, action-packed sport of ultimate frisbee. Great for girls and boys ages 6-14 years old, this camp will feature fun ultimate frisbee games, a variety of drills, and scrimmages. Minnesota Xtreme Cheer: Summer Cheer Skills Camp (Ages 7-12)Recreation & SportsWe are excited to offer a three-day cheer camp designed to introduce new skills and strengthen existing ones in our beautiful, air-conditioned facility. This camp is open to boys and girls ages 7–12 and is suitable for all experience levels. Throughout the camp, athletes will focus on stunting, tumbling, and jumps with hands-on instruction from our experienced coaching staff. Participants will train on a spring floor, utilize the trampoline for jump and tumbling development, and learn exciting stunt skills in a safe, supportive environment. Rochester Figure Skating Club Learn2Skate (Ages 6-12)Recreation & SportsBeginning ice skating lessons will be offered for our newest skaters. These classes focus on having fun on the ice while safely learning basic movements and fundamentals of skating. Instructors use the LearntoSkate USA curriculum which is sanctioned by the U.S. Figure Skating and USA Hockey. Skate rental is available for $3.00 per class and must be paid for the whole session at the first class. Starting SoonRochester Rowing Club: Learn to Row (Ages 12-18)Recreation & SportsAthletes new to rowing are introduced to the sport in our junior Learn to Row program. Time will be spent on rowing machines (ergs) and on the water in rowing shells (boats). They will learn valuable skills such as teamwork, fitness conditioning, and safety on the water. Upon completion, participants are well prepared to join the Junior Crew. This program is coached by high-level coaches and assisted by experienced rowers who make learning to row easy and fun! No experience needed. Come dressed in workout gear - close-fitting and quick-dry fabrics work best. Multiple one-week sessions will be offered in the summer of 2026.
